3rd Line – IT Infrastructure Project and Support Engineer

Are you an experienced IT Infrastructure Engineer with a 3rd line technical support background?

We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a 3rd Line IT Infrastructure Project and Support Engineer. Due to the nature of this role all applicants must be over 21 years of age (due to insurance requirements) and hold a full valid driving licence.

This position is part of a close-knit IT managed services team. Working to ITIL standards, and with diverse and modern technologies, you will be responsible for 3rd line ONSITE and REMOTE infrastructure deployment, support, project management and technical consultancy for businesses in the UK of all sizes.

The role encompasses the design, deployment and support of traditional client-server architecture as well as new cloud based products and services.

Acting as an escalation point for the 1st and 2nd line engineers’ the 3rd line team are great trouble-shooters who work to strict SLA’s by prioritising their workload and using their excellent customer service and IT skills to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.

Key Technologies:

Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange Server, Citrix, VMWare, HyperV, Azure Cloud, Office 365

Key Responsibilities:

– Lead role in maintaining, upgrading and developing server, storage and data centre infrastructure on premises and in the cloud (Microsoft Azure).

– Diagnosis and fault resolution of server and storage infrastructure, primarily including Windows Server, DAS, SAN, data centre infrastructure and virtualisation platforms.

– Complete comprehensive system administration and maintenance tasks onsite at client premises.

– Complete in-depth incident/ problem analysis and resolution.

– Configuration of network printers, terminals and other devices.

– Effective use of backup and restore solutions.

– Evaluation of new products, upgrades and patches.

– Provide input into our customers technical architecture and technology roadmaps.

Required skills and/or experience

* Excellent 3rd Line Project Management, Deployment and Support Skills.

* Qualified to degree standard or equivalent

* At least 5 years directly relevant experience

* Demonstrable expertise in several of the following subjects and technologies:

* Full lifecycle project experience (i.e. migrations / upgrades / service packs).

* General network and server administration/troubleshooting.

* ITIL Service Management Framework

* Windows server

* Exchange server

* Cloud hosted solutions (Office 365/ Azure/AWS).

* Cloud Service Support

* Virtualisation technology

* PowerShell Scripting

* Windows Desktop Support and Deployment

* Citrix (XenDesktop, Xenapp)

Desirable skills and/or experience

* Microsoft certifications (MCITP, MCSA/ MCSE/ MCP).

* Varied experience working as a Systems Engineer (ideally with cloud infrastructure – Microsoft Azure).

* Demonstrable experience in translating high level technical architectures and service design requirements into a clear and coherent low-level designs.

* Significant experience of infrastructure and application architectures, particularly with respect to cloud services, automation techniques leading to consistent delivery and to high levels of quality.

* Good understanding of security best practices, particularly in relation to software patching, data leakage prevention and encryption.

You will be responsible for 2nd line ONSITE technical support and consultancy for a variety of businesses, encompassing the design, deployment and support of new cloud based products and services, through to general client-server management and network administration.

Acting as an escalation point for the 1st line engineers’ the 2nd line team are great trouble-shooters who work to strict SLA’s by prioritising their workload and using their excellent customer service and IT skills to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

– Complete comprehensive system administration and maintenance tasks onsite at client premises.

– Complete in-depth incident/ problem analysis and resolution.

– Escalate incidents when necessary to the 3rd line support team.

– Configuration of network printers, terminals and other devices.

– Effective use of backup and restore solutions.

Required skills and/or experience

* Excellent 1st-2nd Line Support Skills

* General network & server administration /troubleshooting

* Windows server, VMware/ Hyper-V, Exchange, AD, GP, DHCP, DNS

* Cloud hosted solutions (Office 365/ Azure/AWS)

* Previous experience of a service and support orientated environment.

Desirable skills and/or experience

* Microsoft Certifications (MCITP, MCSA/ MCSE/ MCP)

* Full lifecycle project experience (i.e. migrations / upgrades / service packs)

* Windows Server Active Directory

* Virtualisation technology

* Cloud Service Support

* SharePoint knowledge

* Have a good understanding of various hardware components, for example, Servers, Storage Area Networks and Network Attached Storage.
