IT Champion were chosen by the practice to provide second and third-line IT support services and to supply a source of advice and technical consultancy to the in-house team.

Dunn and Baker were initially just looking for a new IT Partner to escalate their more complex or challenging IT support issues.

The practice manages its own servers, desktops and mobile devices, however, they wanted to work with a responsive and customer-focused IT Support Company that could complement and extend their existing in house capabilities.

IT Champion were chosen by the practice to provide second and third-line IT support services and to supply a source of advice and technical consultancy to the in-house team. Once this relationship was established, IT Champion helped identify key areas of the IT systems at Dunn & Baker which needed to be upgraded or replaced in the future.

Professional Services 2

Established in 1885 Dunn and Baker have been providing legal services to private clients and the business communities of Exeter for over 100 years.

With offices in Exeter, Cullompton and Newton Abbot they have the resources to help clients to meet the challenges they face in the legal world of the 21st century. The practice is IT-friendly, but not chained to it. All of their IT systems ensure that the legal advice they provide is delivered in the most effective manner and in a way that ensures the client is always kept fully informed.

It was identified that IT Champion could assist with the implementation of a new MPLS network and that the practice would also benefit from migrating their on-premises installation of Microsoft Exchange Server to Office 365 Exchange.

Following discussion and cost analysis, IT Champion engineers supplied the practice with a detailed project plan that outlined the installation of two new HP servers and network storage upgrade.

Additionally, many users were nominated to be converted to virtual desktops using terminal services for rapid redeployment and a consistent user experience.

Highlights of the project include:

  • Supply, install and configure 2x HP DL360 servers with redundant power
  • Deploy HP MSA 2040 storage area network (SAN)
  • Install Buffalo TeraStation 4Tb network-attached storage
  • Migrate an on-premises installation of Microsoft Exchange to Office 365
  • Convert nominated users to terminal service desktops
  • Supply retained technical services for project labour
  • Provide ongoing helpdesk, remote and onsite IT support
