IT Champion were approached to recommend a better way for the business to provide its IT infrastructure and provide a simpler way for their staff to work.
The business recently relocated to Exeter and at that time their server was hosted by an IT provider out of the area.
Users were accessing the data over a site to site VPN and had individual mapped drives for each folder, which was becoming a burden to manage and use.

Following a period of consultation and advice with a Senior Systems Engineer from IT Champion it was determined that the engineering practice should provide a new server in the Microsoft Azure cloud.
The new server would act as a primary domain controller and file server, configured with RRAS for data access over a VPN.
Costs for the new Azure-hosted infrastructure were supplied with a full outline of the project labour required to deliver the project with minimum disruption to the business. IT Champion engineers configured a new VPN connection on the user’s machines in preparation for the migration.
The new IT infrastructure only has one shared mapped drive with all the top-level folders included avoiding the use of 10+ mapped drives. The data was migrated from the old server to the Azure server over a weekend to avoid business downtime. An IT Champion systems engineer attended the site on Monday morning to ensure the migration was successful and assist users if needed. Webroot was also installed on all devices to deliver multi-vector protection for endpoints and the network, as well as offer threat intelligence services to protect the business.
Following the project, which was delivered on time and to budget, the business decided to take a Managed IT Services contract with IT Champion for day to day IT support and management.
